Coder is responsible for the day-to-day coding operations. The Medical Coder will serve as a resource to CARE Clinic physicians, nurses, medical assistants, managers, and clinic staff in all coding related issues. Gather physician notes and care plans as needed to properly code (CPT & ICD-9) and bill. Will require acquisition of daily scheduler from individual physicians. Will assist with auditing of Patient charts to ensure proper coding. Other duties as assigned or required. Will complete two EduCode modules per month as assigned by the Coding Supervisor.


  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medical compliance and documentation standards for billing, CPT and ICD-9 coding, including Physician Guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and disease processes; demonstrable ability to use these to make sound coding choices.

  • Minimum of two years job-related experience required.

  • AHIMA CCS-P certified preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to be flexible and work collaboratively.
