Position Summary:

The responsibility for this role is the operational objectives of the Central Sterilization Department at California Hospital Medical Center.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Providing management and guidance in the care, processing and provision of surgical instrumentation throughout the facility

  • Providing maintenance and surveillance over the decontamination, preparation, assembly and sterilization of instrumentation in accordance with regulatory and recommending organization standards.

  • Quality assurance and decontamination of durable medical equipment.

  • Interaction with personnel and other departments within the framework of the philosophy and policies established by California Hospital Medical Center.

  • Responsibility for the interpretation and implementation of hospital policies, develops and implements all departmental policies and procedures.

  • This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of California Hospital Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.



  • 5 Years acute care hospital experience AND 3 years managerial experience directly related to Sterile Processing.

  • Experienced in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization.

  • Knowledgable of applicable AAMI standards

  • Familiarity with all the sterilization parameters and methods

  • Current CCSA Certification or IAHCSMM CRCST Certification.

  • IAHCSMM CRCST- CHL (Certified Healthcare Leadership) certification required within 6 months of hire.
