In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, the Surgical Technologist I is to function as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure
Recent Hospital experience (0-2 years) and/or previous practice experience preferred.
Must have received practical education at St John's surgical department within the last six (6) months.
Performance during practical education will be rated above average. Completion of Surgical Technologist training.
On the job training with related healthcare experience or completion of Surgical Technologist Program and/or licensed Practical Nurse Program.
Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in the capacity of a surgical technologist
Certified Surgery Technology certification within 3 month of hire.
Certified Surgery Tech (CT ORT)
Demonstrates basic skills appropriate to the roles of the Surgical Technologist. Demonstrates ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery. Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others. Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused. Demonstrates ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs, unit based programs, unit based task forces and committees. Seeks opportunities for improving job knowledge and skills. Demonstrates ability to assume on call status as determined by department manager and according to department needs. Verbal and written communication skills required, computer skills preferred. Ability to deal with multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
