We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Paramedic to work on the Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Unit (BESTU). The Paramedic will respond to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance as a member of the BESTU team. Performs patient care related tasks. Provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse. Assist in the evaluation of the patient's condition at the scene. Obtains and records patient vital signs. Performs EKGs and POC testing. Assists Physician/Nurse with diagnostic tests, clinical procedures, and other tasks as requested. Communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician. Documents all interactions in patient's medical record. Operate and maintain ambulance equipment. Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards. Keep abreast with new treatment and medical procedures through continuous training. Assist in Emergency Department with similar duties when not involved in BESTU response.



AZ CEP (Arizona Certified Emergency Paramedic)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within six (6) months of hire (American Heart Association)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within six (6) months of hire (American Heart Association)

CPR (American Heart Association)

Current Valid AZ Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report on file.


Municipal Fire Department experience

Direct Patient Care experience

NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider)

NREMT-P (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Paramedic).
