Serves as the pharmacist responsible for the management and dispensing of all specialty pharmaceuticals within the McAuley Pharmacy on the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center campus. Works collaboratively with the retail pharmacy manager and the pharmacy staff at McAuley pharmacy overseeing specialty pharmacy staff and workflow, mail-order services, specialty pharmacy inventory management, billing and charge capture reconciliation, assurance of continuous quality of services, medication safety, regulatory compliance, and the financial performance of the specialty pharmacy program (budgetary and profitability).
Serves as a leader of pharmacy initiatives and contributes to the provision of high-quality care at Dignity Health. Provides direction and supportive resources regarding day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department as a whole to reduce harm to patients and improve patient outcomes.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
Provides direction and supportive resources regarding day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department to reduce harm to patients and improve patient outcomes. Assures departmental competency and compliance to all regulatory, accreditation and hospital standards of care.
Implements a service culture based on the principles of continuous quality Improvement. Creates structures and processes that assure cost effective and safe utilization of drug supplies and pharmacy staff time.
Implements and administers fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures and reviewing and responding to financial report data.
Provides expert pharmaceutical care assistance to colleagues regarding integrated health care delivery network.
Serves as the primary interface to the specialty clinics (leaders, physicians, clinicians) and accountable for the clinical services, customers and stakeholder relationships and day to day operations for the Specialty Pharmacy program.
Responsible for the oversight of supply chain operations including procurement, receiving, security and inventory control. Maintains appropriate protocols as necessary.
Ensures compliance with all national, state, and local regulations related to specialty/retail pharmacy medications and their management. Assures compliance with URAC and ACHC Accreditation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy is required. Advanced or Master's degree preferred (e.g., Pharm.D.) .
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Pharmacist in an acute care setting. Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy leadership experience.
Master of Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or Business Degree highly preferred.
Has experience working and/or management in Specialty Pharmacy.
Has experience and working knowledge of federal and state pharmacy statutory and regulatory provisions. Has knowledge of 340B Drug Pricing programs and pharmacy contracting.
- Registered Pharmacist license. Oversight for an acute care facility requires licensure in the state in which you practice
