Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The incumbent shall demonstrate behaviors consistent with the core (Mercy) values and the Mission and Philosophy of Dignity Health. Under general supervision, to learn and perform a variety of general office work in the Rehabilitation Service Programs. General office work includes: typing, filing, scheduling, charges, record keeping, data entry and retrieval, document preparation and review, oral communications, ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment, and performing related work as assigned pertinent to the program area.

This is a float position, which can float to the various local Mercy Outpatient facilities in the Greater Sacramento Service

Area. You must be acceptable and willing to travel anywhere between 25-50% of the time.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of clerical experience in a medical or insurance setting utilizing medical terminology or any combination of education and experience required

  • Correct English usage required, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation

  • Background and working knowledge in medical terminology, computer operations, office practices and procedures, effective customer relations, HMO's, IPA's and insurance authorization procedures required

  • Type accurately at a minimum speed of 40 words per minute

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background and working knowledge in both federal and state regulations pertaining to MediCal/MediCare preferred
