Position Title: Manager of Respiratory Therapy
Manages the daily operation of all services of the Respiratory Therapy Department. Coordinates the activities of the assigned departments with other departments within the facility. Recruits, hires and retains qualified staff.
Manages the daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department to ensure compliance to all standards of practice and licensing/regulatory requirements. Develops and implements strategies in operational improvements and/or new services that are consistent with organizational strategic and business development planning.
Manages existing programs, as well as program development, implementation of new respiratory programs and assessment/revision of existing programs in keeping with a changing health care environment.
Plans, organizes, and supervises the daily activities of the Respiratory Department , including volunteers and respiratory therapy students, to ensure consistency with standards of practice; licensing/regulatory standards; department policies; and service needs of the facility.
Prepares the annual department budget and ensures compliance to operational expectations and productivity standards.
Knowledge of the operating principles, major issues, governmental regulations, and code of ethics for the healthcare industry; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to healthcare related situations.
Knowledge of the concept and theory of cardiology and pulmonology; ability to assess respiratory system ailments and patientsâ€™ injuries as well as to implement the therapeutic process of a relevant treatment plan.
Knowledge of the schedule creation process; ability to develop and maintain a workable schedule to accomplish the overall goals of day-to-day operations.
Education and Experience:
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience in related field. Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience.
Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
Licensure: License as a Respiratory Therapist
Special Skills: None specified.
Training: None specified.
Recent, progressive supervisory experience in Respiratory Care, or a comparable combination of education and experience. 3 years 1 Year previous supervisor experience. Combination of leadership experience in program development or clinical lead within department may be substituted for direct supervision experience.
