Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital has been serving the Sacramento community for more than 100 years. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy General has been at its current site in the heart of East Sacramento since 1925. Mercy General Hospital has 342 licensed beds, a physician staff of more than 800 and is the highest volume cardiac procedure hospital in California. Mercy General is one of six Sacramento area hospitals that are part of Dignity Health, a system of 39 hospitals and medical centers in California, Arizona and Nevada.
The incumbent performs diagnostic imaging procedures according to the written or transcribed verbal orders of a physician and within the scope of his or her Certification at all MHS facilities under the direction of the Imaging Supervisor and the Medical Director of Radiology. Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

This position requires satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an approved school or training facility.
This position also requires the following knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge of: anatomy and physiology for imaging including cross sectional relationships; medical terminology relating to radiology principles of operation and care of x-ray machines and accessory equipment; currently accepted diagnostic radiologic procedures; radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator; patient and public film processing systems; mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment preparation; use and hazards of diagnostic contrast materials.
Ability to: minimize radiation exposure to patients, self and other persons; perform general and specialized radiographic procedures which meet the department's standard of quality; recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process; act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors and the public; maintain confidentiality of patient records and information; remain calm and reassure those who may be distressed by the examination or procedure; develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel; work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require; organize work assignments, maintaining accurate and complete records; maintain a high degree of accuracy in procedural detail and required records; work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions.
Candidates must also have certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), current California license as a certified Radiolgic Technologist with Fluoroscopic permit and a BLS from the American Heart Association.
