The Employee Health Coordinator must be knowledgeable in epidemiological principles, infectious / communicable diseases, health assessment, health management, and adult immunizations. S/he must be familiar with relevant Public Health issues. S/he must have some working knowledge of workers' compensation, industrial hygiene, safety, ADA and FMLA laws. S/he assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of the Employee Health and Infection Control Program for Mark Twain Medical Center. S/he compiles information into meaningful data and reports to appropriate parties and monitors compliance with Infection Control / Employee Health practice and regulatory guidelines. S/he identifies Infection Control / Employee Health problems and facilitates resolution by collaborating with appropriate parties, or conducting focus studies as needed. The Employee Health Coordinator collaborates with team members to provide education as needed, or assigned; develops and maintains effective working relationships with medical and operational staff; and communicates effectively with others. S/he represents Infection Control / Employee Health on committees as assigned. Actively seeks learning opportunities related to Infection Control / Employee Health/ Workers' Compensation / FMLA. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). The Employee Health Coordinator is expected to obtain / maintain national certification in Infection Control (CIC) or Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-S) within two years of hire and to seek out opportunities for professional development.
Must be knowledgeable about adult education principles and competent in the area of clinical practice. Must have an understanding of the quality improvement process. Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership and teaching skills. Computer skills are essential to successful performance. Capable of making independent decisions within the scope of assigned responsibility. Able to manager multiple priorities and deadlines with frequent interruptions. Must have some knowledge of bacteriology, epidemiological principles, infectious / communicable disease processes, and knowledge of workers' compensation regulations.
Must be a graduate from a school of nursing with a current California Registered Nurse license. BSN Required.
Minimum of five (5) year's experience as a staff nurse in an acute care facility is required. Must have experience in data collection and analysis and in applying the acquired knowledge appropriately. Prefer two years of experience being in an industrial medicine /employee health setting.
Current California RN license AHA BLS CPR Certification COHN, CT CPRBLS, CT ICE, RN COHN or CT ICE required within 2 years of hire
