Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Our Staff Nurse are critical to the success of Mark Twain Medical Center and require the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Our Staff Nurse performs the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care for patients with overt and covert needs, appropriate to patient age. Assists with managing the patient care administered by other members of the nursing staff. Assumes responsibility and accountability of total patient care and relief charge nurse duties.

The Staff Nurse position treats/cares for patients of all ages.

The incumbent provides, coordinates and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. Assesses patient/family health problems and resources, takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations. This position requires providing service to an adult population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current California RN license required

  • Six (6) months of acute care experience required

  • Ability to do work in spite of frequent interruptions

  • Ability to read work product of others, computer/monitor screens, computer printouts

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations

  • High level of concentration and attention to detail

  • Ability to work with a team, prioritize work and make decisions regarding patient care, implements nursing actions independently

  • Ability to interact appropriately with others

  • Current BLS, PALS and ACLS certifications required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred
