Performs daily billing of accounts. Ensures the accuracy of claims going to the payors in order to expedite payment. The biller must determine corrective action and document all errors. In addition, the biller must be an active member of the payor team to continually improve the accuracy and efficiency of the billing and collection process. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of St. Bernardine Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support St. Bernardine Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activitie.• Three years acute care electronic Medi-Cal billing experience to include Medi-Cal Managed Care programs and billing .• Thorough knowledge of EDS and UB billing forms • Basic understanding of CPT and ICD-9 coding • Must possess typing, data entry, and 10-key skills • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel • Analytical abilities required to identify and resolve repetitive edit failures relating to specific payers, individual and charge master/coding issues, etc. • Possess positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills and is professional in approach.
