Insurance/Workers’ Compensation Analyst

Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities, seek guidance when in doubt, promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct, Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations and when requested, assist Dignity Health personnel in investigating all allegations of violation. When called upon, the incumbent shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement, monitor and mitigate risk corrective plans outlined by the Compliance program. The goal is to improve quality, service, process and efficiency, by providing opportunity identification, data sources, data collection, data analysis, work flow analysis, statistical analysis, benchmark determination, process improvement design, training, coordination, measurement of outcomes, written and graphic reports and data presentation. This position will act as a resource to Risk Services staff s to initiate, coordinate and provide expertise in analytic projects.

Provide analytic support as defined in the accountabilities section to the Director of Insurance and the Director of Workers’ Compensation. Approximately 50% of work will be in Insurance program and 50% in Workers’ Compensation (WC).


Insurance Program

  • Manage RMIS system in a timely manner with high accuracy and data integrity. Create and analyze reports.

  • Maintain, create and manage MIMS database. Review and respond timely (within 48 hours) to requests for Evidence of Coverage for Dignity Health employed clinical providers, and requests for claims history and issue appropriate correspondence.

  • Create and maintain database and excel schedules of various exposures including, but not limited to, owned/leased properties, vehicles, drivers, physicians, etc.

  • Manage and attend meetings and teleconferences with other risk services personnel, insurance brokers, defense counsel and vendors

  • Create correspondence, letters, insurance applications powerpoint and excel spreadsheets

  • Review contracts to determine types of coverages and obtain Certificates of Insurance from insurance broker as appropriate.

  • Manage certain insurance covered claim cases. Comply with all claims management guidelines and requirements with respect to processing claims and financial transactions within the claims systems

  • Meet with internal departments within Dignity Health and external brokers, claim administrators, attorneys and legal/claims, insurers and others to obtain information as needed.

  • Advice and customer service to Dignity Health facilities and vendors on Insurance coverages.

  • Check and process vendor invoices and payments

Worker's Compensation Program

  • Manage special projects relating to administration of Workers’ Compensation self-insurance program.

  • Provide training and support to Dignity Health facilities on the claims management system and WC program.

  • Manage WC program system processes; (special projects, settlements (SARs), State and regulatory reporting)

  • Provide customer service and training to Dignity Health internal departments, WC Coordinators at facilities, vendors, and TPA claims administrator

  • Create correspondence, letters, powerpoint and excel spreadsheets with an understanding of the subject matter.

  • Manage and attend meetings and conferences and teleconferences

Other tasks as directed




Minimum Required: 2 years experience in insurance, database management or law office

Preferred/Desired: 5 years experience in insurance


Minimum Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED


  • 2 years college or equivalent work experience

Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must be highly organized with strong analytical skills

  • Able to work independently and exhibit excellent time management skills and a strong sense of urgency while carrying projects thorough to completion

  • Ability to prioritize while working on multiple projects and simultaneously gathering further clarification as necessary

  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to shifting priorities, maintain discretion concerning highly confidential information

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a pleasant, professional manner by phone and within the office

  • Strong computer skills, including, but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, advanced Word and advanced Excel 2010; and database and graphics applications.
