Responsibilities

The lead pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to all patients, including both inpatients and outpatients. This individual is expected to work primarily in one area – IV Service of the Pharmacy Department, and as such, is expected to develop expertise within that area, which exceeds that of other pharmacists in the department. This pharmaceutical care comprise of distributive and cognitive components with the ultimate goal of safe and effective drug therapy for each individual patient. The lead pharmacist is responsible for assessing and improving the quality of drug distribution and clinical services in his/her assigned area including prioritizing workflow, answering questions from providers, and solving problems as they occur. In addition, this person is expected to provide educational activities for the personnel working in that area and facilitate other staff members to follow and be in compliance of policies and procedures and practice standards for that given area. Qualifications

One year's experience in a hospital pharmacy and / or completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program.

Minimum of 3-5 years combined experience in healthcare industry 3-5 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in area of related field Complete annual safety training. Complete and maintain department specific training. PC Computer skills preferred.

Individual must have demonstrated capabilities in effective management, communication, and leadership. Depending on the realm of operation, individual must also be competent in all or some of the following areas: personnel management, accounting, statistics, purchasing, licensing and permit(s) procedures, as well as prescription services. Annual/ Core Competencies.

Current registration in California as a pharmacist.
