Responsibilities

The Stroke Coordinator is responsible for the management of the Accredited Primary Stroke Center. The Coordinator is the lead facilitator for the hospital departments, physicians, external agencies, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals. The Coordinator ensures the care for the stroke patient throughout the continuum and works with the Medical Director of the Stroke Program, collaborating with Stroke leadership team members to ensure comprehensive medical record documentation to reflect clinical treatment, decisions, and diagnoses for inpatients. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring and suporting Saint Francis Memorial Hospital's continued certification as a primary stroke center. The Coordinator will include education, reporting and marketing for the stroke program.The coordinator ensures quality and regulatory compliance for the Stroke Program providing education and development oportunities for staff. . The Coordinator works under the direction of the Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person in this position is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner with respect and dignity.

Clinical experience with stroke patients. Experience in teaching and/or clinical program development and ordinations desirable. Minimum of 5 years in nursing practice with 2 years in critical care. Clinical experience in care for stroke patients is highly desirable. Three to five years experience in teaching and/or clinical program development and coordination is desirable.Experience in data collection and statistical analysis preferred. BA/BSN or equivalent required. MSN preferred. Masters Degree preferred Completion of annual safety training. Completes and maintains required hospital specific training. Advanced Practice license preferred. Current California RN License and current BLS/ACLS for healthcare providers required. NIHSS certification.
