Responsibilities

About This Position

In keeping with the Dignity Central Coast Services Areas health care philosophy, the Business Informaticist provides user support by facilitating communications between Information Technology staff, (DELL-Perot Systems) the Dignity Patient Businss Systems team and the business users of the Patient Business Systems at Marian Medical Center, French Hospital Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.

Manages the implementation, training, evaluation, and maintenance of all Patient Business Information Systems projects within the Hospitals. Monitors application use, system performance, hardware reliability and software stability. Develops, supports and activates disaster recovery strategies in times of need. Participates in application development decisions. Secures and reports user input in design development. Coordinates with other educators and managers to meet the ongoing learning needs of hospital staff as relates to Meditech 6.0 and other systems. Captures, defines, and prioritizes pre and post implementation issues. Reports and participates in the problem solving of issues both locally and at enterprise impact level. Coordinates the collection and reporting of metrics defining benefits realization, and return on investment associated with Patient BusinessSystems. Insures, through delegation and management skill, investigational protocol compliance relative to data collection. The Business Informaticist reports locally but is also accountable to the VP for Enterprise EHR Alliance Program.Experience in a Patient Business Systems leadership level position at a health care institution of similar size and complexity. Must be knowledgeable of new trends in medical billing, medical coding, and informations systems. Be able to apply data processing technology for the Business Office, Admitting and Health Information Management services areas. Must have a thorough knowledge of Meditech 6.0 and Patient Business System practices and principles.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

Minimum of one-year experience in information technology in an implementation or application support capacity and two-years experience within a Patient Business System leadership role. Must have extensive Meditech 6.0 experience and knowledge of Business Office, Admitting and Health Information Management practices. Medical terminology and medical coding. A BS, BSN or Masters degree preferred. Computer: Excellent computer skills with ability to create graphic design and develop written content in a clear, concise and accurate manner. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding, to carry out instructions, furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Substantial demands for perception, comprehension, judgment and decision-making.
