The Medical Assistant provides technical and assistive patient care according to a plan of care established by the Registered Nurse/MD.
Obtain all required information for the provider prior to the patients' appointments
Prepare the patient prior to the provider entering the treatment room
Keep accurate documentation in the patient's chart pertaining to the appoint or any interaction with a patient within her/his scope of service (i.e., daily chart preparation for visit, medication refills or response to written order given by the provider or phone messages)
Interviews individuals and obtains comprehensive and accurate information; prioritizes incoming telephone calls appropriately
Communicates effectively in oral and written form
Provides support to the medical staff as needed
Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare system
High school diploma (or equivalent) required
Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions, or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by Dignity Health Medical Foundation HR department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions), required
Ability to read, speak and write English in order to perform the duties of this position required
Will demonstrate current competencies and certifications as required by each specific department
